I've been having my period for almost a year now. They haven't become regular yet. I started my period around 3 days ago, and it was just a light, filmy brownish discharge. It stayed really light for the last three days, and there hasn't been anything at all today. Is this normal? I'm 14 years old, and I've never had sex or anything. It was like this last month too, but a little heavier and longer.

thanks : ]

It's just your hormones regulating themselves and getting used to menstrating. Your period may be irregular for quite awhile bouncing from short and light to long and heavy. Talk to your mom, school health advisor or your doctor if you have any more questions.

Like you said, your periods haven't become regular yet. It will take a few years for you to get on a regular cycle. Your brown discharge is your period. I started my periods when I was 11. I thought something was wrong with me for like 2 years because it was never heavy and it was always brown. As I got older my periods became more regular and heavier. SOOOO, this is nothing to worry about hun! Your perfectly normal!!!

You aren't underweight or anything, are you?

There seem a lot of responses from people who have experienced the same, so don't worry.

Enjoy it whilst they are light - when they get heavier you'll wish they weren't!
