i've been teaching the concept of push and pull to first graders. apparently, they have not mastered the skill yet. if i do an action, they know what force i'm using, but they can't think of other things that we can push, and pull if they're independently working by themselves. HELP! what do i do? i've tried manipulatives but it's obvious that the concept has not been fully comprehended.

dear teacher,

pushing : closing the door, window, and the swing and

pulling: the cover of a package , or the cover of a book

pushing :needs their force to push the object away from them
pulling ; needs their force to bring things or object towards them

relax! they are little buds with innocent minds and a big heart..
they will soon learn when you can associate the theme of your lesson colourfully and may be with a song.. children love colours and music..so try this recipe!

all the best !
