This Day in rememberance of the fallen in war has prompted me to take action against the vile memorial stone placed on her grave by her family and church. Tonight 50 blood red poppies will cover the hateful words 'UNKNOWN TO GOD".
I trust your day, if sad, will be kind to you.
In ever fonder memory, Rose P.

Thank you, and I trust the same for you as well.

I love what you are doing with the poppies! I just cannot believe what some ppl choose to put on memorial stones, and the words those poppies will cover are absolutely the worst I've ever heard. How dare they? sigh. She IS known to God, no matter what those ppl decided to write on her stone.

I have an opposite experience of yours. At 5 years old, I was adopted by a very dear man and the wicked witch of the west. When my adoptive 'mommy dearest' passed on, my adoptive father had 'beloved wife and mother' written on her stone. When I saw that several months later, it's a good thing I was by myself! I ranted and raved, and actually went into the office at the site crying to the powers that be there what an abusive tyrant she had been.. how could they even think of writing those words! And of course, I was told there was nothing that could be done about what was written on the stone. Sooooooo, the only thing I could think of to do was to pace back and forth over her grave yelling my feelings at her, wherever she was, (the poor yardsmen just stared at me... lol), and crushed my cigs out over and again on the words 'beloved mother'. How I had wished right then that there was something permanent I could use to chisel those words off her stone. If ever I find a way, I'll let you know. ;)

One thing tho... I found a way to release my feelings of anger, and so have you. And that's a good thing.

I light candles today, for loved ones to be remembered. I'll light one for your loved one too. :)

This rememberance day I am actually on a warehouse shopping tour that is fundraising for breast cancer. Despite that being the cause of the day we are definately going to do something for rememberance day.

Being a proud Aussie we are stopping whatever we are doing and listening to that last post play over the radio. We are going to have our minutes silence because those who fought for us deserve some respect.

I always shed a tear or two because it reminds me of my grandfather. He was in the second world war but it just brings back all the memories of him.
