You talking it has a BIOS password or a boot up password that you cannot get into?

if its the windows logon screen there is a way to get by it.
Where do you live?

email me -- I might be able to help.
If people say you have to restore the entire system, they are wrong.

email me -- lets talk about it.
secret not everyone should know.

There should be a reset button on the bottom of the dell laptop.

Secondly when the laptop was first set up it asked for a an administrator password if your cousin did not put one in you can boot your laptop to safe mode and the administrator logo should come up and you can log in and remove the password from your cousin user account

You could try starting the laptop in safe mode. (hit f8 on boot repeatedly until boot menu loads) Win XP by default has a hidden administrator user id that is visible in safe mode. It usually doesn't have a password.

If that doesn't work for you there is a geeky solution. You can download the offline password reset tool found here http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/bootdisk.html its a little geeky but if you follow the directions carefully you can reset your password. The link has full instructions and suggestions. You will have to download the ISO file and burn a boot cd. Good Luck

enejna said to make a new password but... You can't if you can't sign off. I don't know... The best thing to do would be to talk to an expert and see if s/he can do it.
