I spent most of my teenage years falling asleep with headphones. Nothing wrong with my ears 20-odd years down the line.

Yeah, your brain does need a rest...
I think the main issue isn't that it might affect your ears, but that you might roll over in your sleep and strangle yourself in the headphone wires. Might be a good idea to use wireless headphones...
I just listen to music out loud when i'm going to sleep. But then again, i do live away from my parents now so they aren't around to tell me to turn it off.

I don't see how it could be any different than listening to music with headphones while you are awake. Your body does need time to not be stimulated so you might want to re-think this idea. If not then I would make sure they are turned down low.

If you keep it at a low level so it doesn't damage your hearing, I wouldn't see any reason not to do this. I prefer to listen to music on my Bose radio which is set to play quietly for a few hours and then fade out. I doubt I stay awake more than 45 minutes while I read doing that, and it's very relaxing and enjoyable.

When you sleep you do not hear anything.As regards Head Phones,it is not advisable to use head phones continuosly.Use of head phones adversely affect hearing and may result in partial hearing loss/impaired hearing.Use of head phones during driving may cause accidents.
