I have the same problem myself.. Meditation is so helpful, but instead of focusing on a flower, focus on the greater goal behind what you're doing.. in school, you have to do a speach for class, so instead of thinking on how you are going to survive it, you have to think of the future benefit it'll cause, university, jobs, lifestyles.. will it help you progress and perfect yourself, will it open people minds to new ideas, etc.. Also when you transform your mind to doing a speech for yourself into doing it for others, your precision and perfection of what you say is very necessary because the goal is greater than yourself.. maybe this help?

Have you speak written out in big print so that you can find your place if you forget. Practice it by talking to yourself or someone else.
Learn some self hypnosis and relaxation techniques. Tell yourself that the people what to hear what you have to tell them. Find one person in the back of the room that looks very friendly and look at them as if they were the only one you are talking too.
Talk slowly. Most people who are anxious talk too fast. Just talk as if you were talking to a friend.
If all else fails, if you know your subject well and lose the notes, just talk as to a friend and from the heart. People respond better to that anyway.

Meditations works wonders. Close your eyes in a quiet place. Concentrate on one item like a flower. Watch it open and close and change colors. Imagine its feel and smell. Imagine pulling each petal off one at a time.
Meditation calms you but practice makes you perfect. Practice your speach in front of others.

If you are stressed while giving your speech, try tensing the muscles in your legs and feet. By doing this you divert the energy in a undetectable way and it relieves the obvious indicators of tension.

breathe deep, practice TONS, know your material, practice in front of people you know and trust, take constructive criticism, and just keep going even if you make a mistake. and, of course, imagine everyone in the audience is wearing only their underwear.

Just look at all the people looking at you and imagine they are in their underwear. Just chill and (act) confident, have your speech with you for comfort and blow them away with your confidence and charisma. GOOD LUCK!
