Unfortunately there are a lot of incorrect answers. Prince William of Wales, 2nd in line to the Throne may attempt to marry anyone he wishes as long as they are not Roman Catholic. To the shame of most decent thinking people this Anti - Catholic piece of legislation is still in force. William does not need to marry a royal, The Queen Mother for example was not royal before marriage, neither was Diana Princess of Wales. However, William, like all members of the Royal Family, must have the permission of the Sovereign and the Privvy Council to marry.

Yes, neither Charles nor Princess Margaret got to pick the one they truly loved. At least Charles got there in the end and good for him. It must however be very difficult to marry into an institution as it wants to control your life almost totally. I am sure there are great advantages to being royalty but there are also some terrible drawbacks as well. We must remember they are people as well as figureheads and can have all the same problems as the rest of us plus a whole lot more.

Yes, of course it was. Diana was a virgin, young and of good breeding stock, and that is all she was used for, to give Charles an heir.
He didn't love her as proved in the interview they gave when they got engaged.
William will go down the same road, a bride will be selected for him. They won't bother with Harry, he will be allowed to do whatever, the same as Andrew was.

I think that yes the Queen forced Charles to marry Diana that is why the marriage did not work. I hope that by now that the Queen and Charles have learned the lession and let William marry a woman that is worthy to be queen someday (which I think William has a good head on his shoulders and will pick such a woman)

No, it was certainly not arranged. However, a wife for a King of England is limited to a small number of royals or semi-royals around the world. Blood line is everything. There are constitutional and religious issues as well. One thing is for sure, he won't be able to marry an American!

If you're a Royal, you have to play by the rules. I admire Edward VII, who gave up the Throne for love. At least the guy wasn't a hypocrite.
