I don't know WHY you think BMW's have a low resale value. I have a 1994 740iL and have offered a minimum of $12,000 for it. It has 150,000 miles on it and I don't know af any 12 year old car that I could sell for that. And NO, it is NOT for sale. I love this car. Unless you've driven a "7" or ridden in one, you just don't know what a great ride it truly is. It's a whole other world. I wouldn't go back to any GM product if you paid me. Talk about a low resale value......Try getting $12,000 for a 12 year old Ford or Chrysler product. After a US vehicle hits 100,000 miles, it falls apart. LOVE MY BEEMER

BMWs do NOT have a low resale value!
It may be confusing but BMWs have one of the highest ranked resale values. Unfortunately, BMWs are for the most part very fast sporty cars, that meas that alot of people get a BMW and drive the hell out of it, and I don't mean in a good way. You can find a number of cheap M3s (A wonderful car!!!), this is because the owner did not take care of the car and probably caused some major damage to the engine, drivetrain, suspension, breaks, etc. with bad driving habits. I've seen BMWs that were say both five years old and had the same mileage. However, one cost $10,000 more than the other.
Believe me, if you're looking for a good BMW that has been taken care of and looks and runs beautifully, it ain't going to be cheap!

A 1998 740i sold new for over $76,000 dollars. The same car today barely can get $2500 or more. That's sad. No car loses that much value. I almost bought the same year BMW and model until I researched the car more and discovered to many problems. BMW makes a great motorcycle. To bad the cars are not made to last. If you search craigslist there is no other car that has so many listings. BMW cars look nice but be careful parts are expensive to buy and work on.

I have never heard anyone accuse BMWs of having low resale! My perception, backed by periodic newspaper surveys and other releases, is the BMWs have rather good (not low) resale values. Blue book and NADA values also confirm the BMWs are slower depreciating than most other brands. Because they hold their value in their early life, it also carries over to the 5-10 period. I would also say it goes beyond the 10 year period also...so I am not sure where your perception comes from. Run the percentages, comparing current values to original MSRPs for several brands over several years, and you with see BMWs are more at the top versus many other brands.

On standard - i think of that your gas expenses would be extra low fee with the grasp too. save your concepts open to different sorts of cares resembling BMW. You pay lots for the BMW line... yet while that's what you surely need and could be happy with thats superb. BMW 3 sequence is resembling the Saab 9-3 .. and saabs are born from Jets. BMW 5 sequence is fantastically superb. unsure if Saab is a robust assessment there. The Audi is a fantastically relaxing looking motor vehicle, and that they have alot of velocity extras you may get resembling the "m" sequence.

BMW's have the highest residual in the industry, according to the automotive lease guide for 2006. Better than honda, and toyota. If you think a bmw lost a lot of value, check out a mercedes, jag, rover.

because BMWs lose quality over time. They are just cars that depreciate fast. however Mini's have the best value rate in the world, even better than porches. I own a 2005 Mini One and in three years it wont even have lost 30% of it's value. or was that 13%?

I have had several BMW owners tell me not to buy one until the company finds a solution to the persistent electrical issues they seem to have.
This coupled with the fact that they now come with a 4 yr, 40,000 mi warranty so if they are past that then they might be prone to more problems.
In general, BMWs seem to cost big $$$ to repair if something goes awry.

Bottom line -- they are beautiful and fast but the technical gizmos that BMW seems to heap upon their cars make living with one utter misery when they start showing their age. Unless you have a personal mechanic living in your basement you probably better stay away from any Bimmer over six years old.
