after losing the house/senate, will the Republicans try to come back to the middle by nominating McCain in 08?

I don't think they would have supported him a week ago, but now they may see that the tides are changing... and I think McCain has a great chance if they went with him?

Look at liberman. The democrats didn't support him. He ran as an independent and took the senate.
Plus you have to remember they go into primaries to see who gets in for their party.

Regardless his military record and Republican ticket, I'd think twice before voting for him. He's been too wishy-washy that leaned heavily toward the liberals in past years.

While I lived in Arizona from 1984 to 1995, McCain was a solid Senator, but since that time he's developed itchy positions on the political level.

As a Democrat I love McCain, if he runs with Giulianni so there's some anti-terror counterbalance to McCains wishy-washy then I'll vote for them. If not McCain-Giulianni then I'll vote Democrat as long as it's not Hillary. I'm going to vote for Biden in the primary.

I really don't trust him, he flip flops too much. I'm a Republican and I wouldn't vote for him.
