Limewire and Bearshare are both legal, its just that as soon as you have downloaded any copywritten material, then you've broken the law. If in the small chance you do use it for downloading uncopywritten material, then it is 100% legal for use. But more 99% of the downloads in those programs are illegal (no exaduration).

Limewire is illegal, I don't know about Bearshare. If it allows you to share music for free, it probably is illegal.

Limewire, the software, is perfectly legal. BUT, using Limewire to download music IS illegal. Suck, huh?

All forms of downloading and file sharing are illegal off any of these sites. The only legal way about it is through itunes or a similar, pay per use, site.
