I am on the final question of a homework assignment, but need to know if the verb *do feel* is action or linking in this sentence:

Why do you always feel that way then?

It is correct that do is a helping verb. But feel is a linking verb. Verbs such as appear, become, taste, feel, smell, etc., link the following adjective of adverbial phrase back to the subject. They are the same.
Feel would only be an action verb if you were feeling something, like "I feel the grit on the sandpaper."
