3x-5(3x-7=2(x+9)+45

First use distributive property:
3x-15x+35=2x+18+45

Now combine like terms:
-12x+35=2x+63

Now combine the x's:
-14x+35=63

Now begin isolating the variable by subtracting 35 from both sides:
-14x=28

Now finish isolating the variable by dividing both sides by -14:
x=-2
