Jerusalem, being the multicultural city that it is, has food from all countries, cultures, and tastes. Besides the ubiquitous falafel stands, there is European, Ethiopian, Medditeranean, and Middle Eastern foods. A good rule of thumb is to look for resturants filled with Hebrew or Arabic speaking locals.
If you keep kosher Jerusalem will be a wonderful place to visit. In the Jewish sections of the city almost everything is kosher. The certificate should be stamped "Basari" (meat) or "halavi" (Dairy) in Hebrew. The current certificates are cream colored with red print for dairy and pinkish-red for meat resturants. It is also the policy of the Jerusalem rabbinute to not certify a chain store as kosher unless all the branches in the city of Jerusalem are kosher. For this reason McDonalds and Aroma in Jerusalem are not certified kosher.

currency is new Israeli shekel
food What do we eat in Israel?
Breakfast
An Israeli breakfast has its own flavors. Is is based on vegetable salad- a thing that to most people coming from other countries sometimes sounds quite weird.
lots of vegetables, as Israel has a great climate for growing them.
At breakfast there is a large dish of salad made of cucumbers, tomatoes, lettuce, onions and green peppers, all topped with olive oil and lemon juice.
Then there are eggs- mostly fried but also boiled. On the table there is also cream cheese and cottage cheese, yogurt and rye bread.
Many kids like to have cereal for breakfast.
Lunch
Lunch is the main meal and here each day they have different types of meat, like shnitzel, frankfurters, meat balls, fish and diced meat. Then there are mashed potatoes, rice, hot and cold salads and in the winter they eat soups- the variety is really big.
For desert they eat fruit.
Supper
A family meal. This meal is almost identical to breakfast. Sometimes pizza, humus and pitta, falafel or fruit salad. In the summer a watermelon is very popular.

In Jerusalem, they use Israel's currency, the Shekel (I think it's about 5 shekels to one American dollar).
As for food, there are many options, just as in North America, but there is a lot of typical middle eastern food: Falafel, Shawarma, pita bread, hummous and such.
