employee 1 has been widowed for almost ten years and has never dated after her husband's death. her BOSS pursues her and asks her out. they carried on a 'secret' relationship for almost 3 years. she has never told anyone because she wanted to protect him--afterall he's the boss. after years of it being okay being secretive he decides to call it off because all of the sudden he says he wants a more open relationship. come to find out he's dating employee 2 within the same work group. employee 1 is doing her best to deal with the situation, but is being harassed by employee 2 and other employees by flaunting the employee 2 and boss relationship in front of her. adding the salt to the wounds has caused her to seek medical attention from all the stress at work (weight loss, anxiety, panic attacks, depression). employee 1 finally broke down and told the boss' boss and now he's fired. she is afraid she'll get fired too. is that grounds for termination?

Ha! Ha! Ha! She won't have a job pretty soon. They'll find a reason to fire her.

It's hard to say without knowing more details. First, it depends on the size of the business. If it is fairly large,ya know, a place with other offices or divisions I would think she may be transferred.A small close knit place, well I think the boss would have to terminate to clear the air.If she is a valued employee then he'd be crazy to tell her to hit the road. There are many factors to consider.Sorry, I guess I didn't help you much. Now that I think of it,I should not have attempted an answer.

Since it was HER decision to carry on the relationship in secret, not his, then I'd say her getting him fired means she's a vindictive b**tch.
I don't know if she technically, legally can be fired, but I hope she does get fired.
They weren't in a committed or married relationship, therefore either one of them could have persued another relationship.
You can bet if it were HER that wanted to see someone else, she would have an entirely different story as to why she was in the right in that circumstance.

Nope -- Employee 1 should be safe. Dating the boss isn't smart, but it's not grounds for termination unless policy specifically says so.

no they need to have a valid reason for firing her, but if it is in the rules that you cannot date employees then they will have the right to fire her other than that it is called wrongful termination! Good Luck! and I hope this is a lesson to her.. never **** where you eat!

no not for her.. he was in the position of authority, which means that she could have felt intimidated about losing her job if she didn't return his advances. he did the chasing. she was the subordinate. although, she may wish she could get fired, cause employee #2 can make her life miserable. as well as the rest of the staff..

I doubt that it is grounds for termination on (her ) part.
she only told someone who is technically the big boss. If anyone should be in trouble it should be her x lover. Has one one ever told her that you do not sh** where you eat? Sounds crude but that the lay of the land.

She cannot be fired, if fired, she is entitled to file a suit against the company and claim multiple compensation.
