The problem with an easy-to-remember list is that the birthstones available for any given month is normally more than one. This is a great situation if you don't like the birthstone carried by most jewelers for your month, but it's difficult if you're trying to remember specific months' gemstones.
Click on the link below for several different birthstone lists--all correct, all found in history, many very different from each other.

You can pick up one of those little pocket day planner things cheap and they usually have them in the back.
Also try associating the stone w/ a friend or family member who has a b-day in that month.

You can ask a local jeweler. They usually have a little card that you can pick up for free saying which gem goes with which month
