My six week old daughter has what looks like a patch of raw skin in the fat folds on each side of her neck. One side is bleeding a tiny bit after I wiped her neck with a wash cloth. She gets three or four baths a week and I try to keep her neck dry... Does anyone know what this could be?

try to keep it dry, it is caused from mositure collecting there and the rubbing when she moves makes it worse and can lead to open sores. you shouldn't use baby powder though, that can make it worse, just try to clean it, and hold her in a way that her neck can air dry, when you feed her, either by bottle or breast, try to lay a burp rag, or a cloth diaper around her neck to absorb any leaks

Babies skin is usually a bit dry. Although she may have excema which is what this sounds like. I would have the doctor check it out. Also check that nothing is rubbing on that part of her neck such as collars, clothing, blankets or even the car seat strap.

My girlfriends daughter had something like you are describing. It was a yeast infection and had to be treated with a prescription cream so you may want to talk to your pediatrician
