Recent history shows that more gets done when power is shared between the two parties. Reagan got major economic legislation passed by a Democratic Congress. Clinton got the deficit under control with a Republican Congress. My theory is that when one party controls both the White House and the Congress, they are reluctant to take risks because they have no one else to blame for a failure. When the parties share power, they both take the blame/credit for failures and successes. I think this new Congress will take this opportunity to get something done.

No . Quite the contrary . This is now a system of of balanced power and the Dem's aren't going to do any thing to upset their chances at a win in 08 . If they go after Bush they will only hurt them self's and they know it , so you will see them work together in a manner that serves the interests of the people as we have seen so many times through history . Look to see interest rates lowered for student loans , the tax cut for the rich rolled back and re-distributed to the middle class An increase in the minimum wage is also going to happen . These are all things that Bush and Dem's see eye to eye on now . The real challenge for both parties is going to be Iraq and finding a solution we all agree on and will work ! Just keep an eye out for new policies that serve the interests of all the people . Policies that are moderate just like the majority of Americans , so I wish our president and our new congress well in the next two years . As should we all !!!

The USA now has one of the best leaders in many years in Nancy Pelosi! She is and will be a strong leader. She has pledged and will work with the Bush Administration in order to make the next two years very successful for both the Dems and Reps as well as the rest of the American people. Some foolish Dems have called for the impeachment of Bush but I do not feel this is the answer and neither does she. She has also stated that she wants input from the Reps, something that the Reps never asked the Dems in the past six years. She will run a tight but productive ship, keeping her own party in line as well as valuing the opinions of the Reps as well.

I look for the democrats to try to impeach President Bush. I know they will attempt to raise taxes. I believe they will try to cut funding for the war just like they did in Vietnam. All they will try to do is get in position for 2008. Remember what John Kerry said about the troops that was his honest opinion. His and most other democrats so they do not care about the troops in harms way. They do not care about the middle class and the only poor they care about are the ones the drive to the polls so they can vote democrat. You do realize that the richest senators and congressmen are democrats not republicans. The republican party let down the true conservatives who elected them. There should have been not only a reduction in taxes but a huge reduction in spending and we did not get that. So in answer to your original question we have gone from poor to none. Sorry for the rant.

first and foremost see RALPH's comments....He nailed it:
Let me explain:
Bi-partisan----be it the President or Congress is good for the growth of the Nation..Good things are to come. Due to the "checks and Balances" of our great nation to be placed back where they belong.
Seriously:::: The US Gov't has been in a stale state...since the GOP t' took over...no offense...but we lose the balance in gov't.
i could say the same if the Dem's controlled Congress for 12 years...The policy would be as messed up....or great depending on your party beliefs and side..
My Point is: Healthily gov't is the Balance of power between all sides and political parties....Good will come of the Democratic congress
wait and see
Thanks

I would like to hope they will do more than cut off their nose to spite their face, but it seems like more and more of these campaigns are to smear the other side more than focus on getting something done... unfortunatly. While I do support out troops being overseas, I do feel it's time to bring them home. We have exausted all means of establishing peace and any kind of system of gov. over there and need to let them handle their own **** from now on. I am just hoping the interest rates don't go through the roof... I wouldn't be suprised if they go over 10%... If your buying a home or car... do it soon before you can no longer afford it!!

would you keep pump in money to have your people die for no reason...just because US decide to make a change in foreign polciy does not mean US is a wimp...people who sacrifice their lives as US army personnel have to stand up for justified cause to put thier lives on the line. If the cause is not justified..MORAL will slide.. because no one wants to die without proper reason for justification of their purpose and action..
US should leave the IRAQ government to take care of their mess there. US had already done what they need to get rid of Saddam. Now it become an IRAQ internal affairs issue.
IF IRAQ cannot deal with its own isssues, then let NATO get involved, US should now stay out of arms lengths and leave those guys alone.
US soldiers need to come to grounds that their purpose in IRAQ were to eliminate the old regime and bring in democracy, now the demoracy movement must come from within IRAQ, forcing US politics on democracy into foreign governments will only backfire and leave US in the hole.
