I have to agree with the previous respondent who nominated Kennedy for "most overrated." Kennedy was a gifted orator and an unmatched social icon, but the principles he stood for have eclipsed anything that he ever did. His foreign policy, especially, was deeply flawed, and his domestic achievements were for the most part eclipsed by Johnson's "Great Society." He is overrated in the same way that Ché Guevara is overrated; he has become an idea rather than a man. I have the utmost respect for Kennedy, but his assasination did his legacy more good than anything he could have accomplished.

A very close second to Kennedy in the race for "most overrated" is Reagan, who is still regarded by many as some kind of Republican saint. It's largely because of his policies that the Middle East is such a mess, among other things.

For most underrated, I have to say Carter. He was and is a decent man, which is more than can be said of any President since. His circumstances as President were just plain unfortunate.

The most overrated president was Kennedy. He made a lot of mistakes considering the foreign policy and during his presidency the world came close to entering World War III. He is responsible for the situation with Cuba and as far as his domestic policy is concerned he failed to improve the social status of the African-Americans afield in which President Carter was more successfull. He also could not implement any imortant reforms.
President Nixon on the other hand is quite underrated. He made many mistakes for sure but he was the first to initiate talks with the People's Republic of China and one of the few American presidents that was willing to talk with the U.S.S.R. He is also creditted for the end of the war in Vietnam. His domestic policy was also quite ambitious and sometimes "liberal"

yeah I would say Andrew Jackson was the most underrated. He lead moderate reform to restore the south to the union when his own party simply wanted to punish them.

as for overrated I would say would be Bill Clinton, but only history can tell. He was fortunate to be president in a good economy but did little to stimulate it, and he is partial to blame for the ineptitude of our CIA that let 9/11 and the mess we are in now to occur.

Regan is the most overrated having done nothing productive and in fact being senile, yet Republicians still think well of him!

The most underrated is Lyndon Baynes Johnson, who passed more landmark legislation than any president in history and did more for the poor and working class than anyone save perhaps Abe.

The reason LBj is overlooked is Viet Nam which was out of his control, yet he is blamed for it!

I completely consider Muinghan. yet i'd upload the following that the Reagan celeb Wars software (SDI) might want to've ruined u.s., if Gorbachev did not pull the plug on the Soviet - American kinfolk individuals. Carter replaced right into a do-gooder yet his overseas coverage - tall on delivers & short on delivery - replaced right into a disaster. He replaced right into a life like guy (compared to maximum presidents) & a "life like guy won't be able to benefit something".
