We don't know for sure, but probably there is.
Scientifically, think about it. If there is a .001% (a random low number) chance of life living in a solar system, and .001% chance of life on a planet in the solar system, and a .001% chance of the life being intelligent, the chances are really good.
If the universe is unlimited in size, then then these figures will mount up and eventually the probably will get to 100% that intellegent life exists somewhere.
Let me clearify: you can say that if a galaxy has 10 planets and there is a .001% chance of life existing in that one galaxy, there's a .01% chance of life existing there. However, the universe (as far as we know) is unlimited in size. There is an unlimited amount of planets in the universe, therefore, you can speculate that there is a 100% chance of life existing in outer space (because there are unlimited number of planets). I think that I clearified it, if not let me know. ownager@sbcglobal.net

There is life throughout the galaxy and a sizable percentage is sentient or approaching sentients. Over the centuries, your planet was a curious place to visit once or twice and was not considered very interesting . Sure, your wars showed us how undeveloped you are as a species. Your infantile,(in cosmic terms) dependence on god concepts does not bode well for you and neither does your penchant to breed beyond your planet's ability to sustain you. We are now showing an interest in you because it is not often that we get to observe a species commit suicide. You are so close to maturing as a sentient species and it will be a shame to see you kill yourselves. There are just not enough of you becoming rational enough to force the issue. You let the least among you determine your fate, so be it.

Well, depends on your beliefs. Obviously we here on Earth cant possibly be the only ones out there. Our minds arent built to understand the idea that the universe goes on forever, but obviously somewhere in that 'forever' there must be other life forms. Not like us most probable, since we are adapted to Earth's atmospheres and such, but other life forms. Are you counting microrganisms?

There might be. No one really knows. Some scientists sent a robot to plant some seeds on Mars. The seeds never grew. It might be too hot on Mercury and Venus. It might be too cold on the other planets.
