Take it from someone who went to college because it was the "right thing to do" and got a basically useless degree. Then I went back to school and got a degree in nursing which has served me well as a source of income for almost 30 years - and yet has left me feeling incomplete. About 5 years ago, I realized my passion was for animals. I've always loved animals, but now I realized that they were what I wanted to do. I'm too old to go back to school to become a vet. (Not to mention, I don't think my brain could absorb that much information) And, after talking to one of the techs at our vet's, my knees aren't good enough for all the lifting, stooping and bending their job requires. So, I'm left to try to find some way to fulfill my drive to help animals without a career change (salary cut).
I guess what I'm trying to say is - don't look to others for a direction for your life. Take the basic requirements type of courses that you can get out of the way for now. Once you find your passion - focus in on the specialized courses that will let you live your dream.
Good luck, and remember to follow your passion.

depends on how much money you are trying to make and how much time you have. Liberal arts majors will work for you if you work hard and establish a name with your professors, make connections and you have to minor in something useful but you will have to sell yourself on interviews. If bussiness then your are better of as a finance major. You can always double major and do the performance art or minor in peformance art. at the end of the day you want to be happy but you also what to eat so find the balance.

Maybe you could start by doing a little research into where (Country/State) you would like to work, and what careers are heading into shortages. I know in Australia we are headed into a pretty serious teacher shortage, for example. What this research will mean is that when you finish your degree you will be assured of permanent work and not spend wasted time waiting for job opportunities. Good luck!
