The purge you refer to is in the political context. It can be either be of violent or non-violent type.

The non-violent type would entail lots of political manouevering & back-stabbing to get the opponent out of the way.

The violent type, as exemplified by Stalin led to literally getting the person out of the way by killing/execution. As people say about Stalin, the ones closest to Stalin are the ones most prone to elimination/liquidation.

The most infamous puges done by Stalin are the ones that firstly put him in absolute control of the soviet governement & state & secondly, killing off the senior armed forces officers as they have the means to overthrow the government.

Talk to your parents about how you feel and about the types of food that are kept in the house. If there isn't junky high calorie foods available, then you cannot binge on them. Take it from someone who is a recovering bulimic when I say that you do not want to start this. I know that this isn't what you want to hear, but I have ruined my body by this type of behavior. I struggle every day with the "urge to purge" and the months of doing it only resulted in my metabolism being totally screwed, gaining back all of the weight and then some when I tried to stop, and the enamel of my teeth being eaten away. I also have problems with acid reflux--a horrible burning in my throat that sometimes is so bad that it keeps me up at night. PLEASE talk to your parents. Maybe you could get a membership at the Y and work with a personal trainer and go to the doctor for a diet plan. Binging and purging is at best a quick fix and the after-effects are so not worth it. Do this the right way.

It is the organized hunting down and execution of dissidents. As another example, think of the SS under Hitler, they were instrumental in his purges.
