Any time you have a flashing SERVICE ENGINE SOON or CHECK ENGINE light on, you have a cylinder misfire. The cause can be a bad wire, spark plug or injector. A cheap and easy thing to do is take the spark plug wires off one at a time WITH VEHICLE OFF and see if there is corrosion on the coil tower. If there is no corrosion, reinstall the plug wire and go to the next one. Do it one at a time so that you do not cross the wires. If you find a corroded coil tower, use a wire brush to clean the corrosion off and reinstall the wire. Start the vehicle and see if it works better. If not, you can go have the computer scanned to see which cylinder is misfiring. Further testing will be needed after that. Autozone can tell you which cylinder is misfiring, but they can't tell why without checking further into the problem.

start by having the codes diagnosed at a reputable garage. there is an obvious problem with the electronic system. could be anything at this point. If you know someone who has knowledge they can retrieve the codes for you just by using a jumper wire...but they need to know what they are doing. Under the dash is the computer diagnostic connector. If you know someone who can do this then that is where they do it. I can't be of much help without looking at the connector cause they are different sometimes.

It is possible you have something as simple as a clogged fuel filter. If you haven't changed it since you owned the car...do that it's inexpensive and probably needs done anyway.

Hope this helps

Every car made since 1996 uses the same scanner with the same connector. You can get an OBDII scanner at the parts store for about $70, and read your engine codes. You can read all your friends engine codes too and make two or three six packs a day.
