Yes, it is common for prenatal vitamins to make you sick, it is mainly from the iron in them. Try vitamins with lower iron or take childrens chewable vitamins. Thats what my doc recommended and believe it or not they have everything you need. Later on you can try your prenatal vitamins again when you are further along.

When I was pregnant I had the same thing. My doctor actually told me to stop taking the Pre-Natals but to stay on the Folic Acid. The Folic Acid is the really important pill you need at the beginning of your pregnancy as it helps the baby develop and prevents some diseases. As for the Prenatals, well I just ate really well and at about month 5, I was able to take them again. Talk to your doctor about it maybe you will get the same advice. PS I know a lot of people who stopped taking them until the second trimester due to morning sickness! Good luck!

I was feeling the same way you are. The best advice I have for your is to change your prenatal pill. I was on prescribed prenatal pills for over a year before I conceived and was fine. Once my prescription ran out, I went to Costco to buy more and it was making me so sick! I told my OB and she gave me some samples. I took those and was fine. Don't stop taking prenatal pills -- they're good for you and your baby!

Oh yeah, I was also told that if certain pills make you feel nauseated, take them before you go to sleep. That way, your side effects will happen while you're sleeping and you won't feel so much discomfort.

Good luck and congrats!

Talk to your doctor before quiting and starting any other pills but the pre natal vitamin is an important part of your daily intake because your baby is going to get all the proper nutrients it needs. but some women do have a reaction to it however if you are in early pregnancy it is probably just morning sickness. I know I got constipated when I started taking them but it subsided after a few days. good luck.

Tell your doctor about it. There are tons of different vitamins that they can give you. Some for people that get sick from them. My friend got sick from hers. She just took hers at night and was fine after that. I was given vitamins that had extra B6 to help nausea. They can also lessen teh Iron in the vitamin which can make some women sick

my Dr told me to stop taking my prenatals and to take two flinstones vitamins a day, that it was the iron levels in my prenatals making me sick. Ask your Dr if this will work for you, and if it is approved, then remember to get the ones without the extra iron. Best Wishes

I stoped taking my prenatal with my first pregnancy (had great teeth) 4 months after she was born I went for a cleaning & needed 3 root canals, ouch! You need to ask your OB to let you try another vitamin there are at least 20 Rx ones. The baby is taking all your vits, calcium & nutrients, your body gets deprieved.

It helped greatly, i wasnt nausus all day, and was asleep during the time it would have made me feel sick, good thing was that i and my baby were still getting the things we need. Hope it helped!
