And I'm not talking about financial, economical or social. I mean for the individuals. How is getting married better than being single, or even just maintaining a monogamous relationship?

Both married and single can be the same. Knowing that you will be with the one you love. It's a different kind of fun. Not to mention one man is enough for me. My hubby and I can keep up with one another. Boy the financial benefits are not there all the time. We both have to work our butts off. I don't think it is better than being single, but I would say it is just as good. We still have fun, but for the most part we do it together. I loved being single as well while I was but I don't miss the single life. You have someone to lean on and them lean on you.

Being married is a deeper committment. I lived with my husband for 2 years before we got married and I didn't think it was really anything different. But something happened.....once we were married, the committment level had increased 10 fold. There was nothing in the back of our mind that if things didn't work out we could break up. Marriage is one of the biggest committments you can make to someone you love. I think the better question would be, why wouldn't you get married to your best friend? If you want to be with them, make the committment to be with them.

There is not benefits to be married. But if you love each other you all will enjoy each others company and you will hurry to go home to your spouse. If you are not in love with your spouse and only marry because on convience or benefits, your married life will suck...
