I like my friend and I want to tell him but I'm scared that it will affect our friendship. What should I do?

I've known my friend for more than a year now, and I know that he won't turn out to be a jerk or anything after I tell him but I'm really afraid that it will affect our friendship. I want to tell him but I don't really want to go out with him or anything just yet. I also think that it would feel weird when I see him again after I've told him. I also think that there's no point telling him because I probably won't have feelings for him later on. But now is now. I was even crazy enough to write a poem for him. Could he really be the one that I've been looking for? He has always been there for me, and he always made a bad situation good. I really like him at the moment but I don't know if I'll like him later on or if he likes me too. I'm really confused and I need answers. Please help me to know what to do. Should I just tell him now, or should I wait a while longer to tell him?

you should weigh the pros and cons of telling him. number 1: do you really want to risk the nature of your current relationship? number 2: are you sure that this isn't maybe a crush or maybe you are just lonely right now? number 3: why tell him? maybe you could show him in very small ways that aren't too obvious and if he feels the same, then he will see your signs and go for it. But telling him in words may be to permanent and risky if you are not sure. Try thinking these things through and see how you feel in a few weeks. hope things work out for you!

Tell him, I had a best friend that I liked for a long time and till this day I wished I had told him how I felt, not neccessarily because I wonder if he felt the same but because I felt like I told him everything but this, so go ahead, he sounds like he will be there for you no matter what so why not, I don't think you have anything to lose.

I have been in your exact position before...i didn't want to tell him because he had been my first friend after i had moved and we had been best friends for years but suddenly he wasn't just another friend to me...so one day i finally just broke down and told him that i liked him and guess what? he liked me back and we ended up dating for nearly a year before we broke up because we both realized we didn't like each other that way anymore, but we are still friends to this day...all i can tell you is you will never know unless you try and if he's really as good a friend as you say then he will understand

i think you should tell him now because you seem to be very fun of him and he is always there evrytime you need his help. i also think that telling him wath you are feeling will make you feel good and perehaps will improve your relachion sheep. so just tell him.
