Well if the light is on you have to ask yourself why is it on?
To reset it you can try( but it does not always work) remove the neg from the battery for 3 minets.
If it does not reset, then you will have to connect it to a poratable scaner and it will tell the light to reset.

If it will still not reset you will have to fix the reason why it is on befor it will reset

With Chevy, once problem is fixed, disconnect positive battery cable for about 15 minutes. That will reset the computer. Probably same with Ford. Or call the Ford house and ask for the Service Dept. Make sure you are speaking with a Service writer and not just a receptionist.

How about getting your engine serviced. Usually it means you are due for an oil change. When you get the necessary service done the mechanic will reset the light.

Go to Checker, Shucks or Kregan auto parts (depending on where you live) and they have a electronic diagnostics tool that you can use for free. It will tell you whats wrong with it and reset your light

Buy and OBDII scanner for about $70. It reads and resets codes on everything built since 96.
