Decks with no theme don't win. Alot of players don't understand that a theme doesn't have to revolve around a monster type. It can be around something like Direct Damage. Very few monsters only themes succeed. Warriors and Zombies are the notable exceptions. Themes just need to be well planned to succeed. You seem to like Spellcasters. If you want to get DMoC out what do you need to do to succeed in summoning him? Have alternate summoning options such as Dedication Through Light and Darkness and Magical Dimension and even Return From The Different Dimension just in case he get's destroyed. The best theme deck can't win if its not well built and well played. Its a lesson we all learn the hard way.

Ah lets see, theme or no theme? It really depends on what you mean by the term theme. Monster theme decks are like spellcasters, warrior, zombie, dragon decks but I don't think that they have really any specific advantage. Then there are strategy theme decks like burn(Inflict direct damage) control deck(Get rid of the opponent's options, swarm(Get alot of monsters out type of decks). Well no theme decks tend to be a deck with no specific theme but have lots of cards together. Well I say that there is no way to tell which is better so i guess you have to say on taste.

It depends if you have the cards mostly used in tournaments. Some examples are:
Spellcasters - Breaker the Magical Warrior
Warriors - DD Warrior Lady, E-Hero Wildheart
Zombies - Spirit Reaper
Water - Mobius the Frost Monarch

it's grate to make a theme but change it every time some one seems to counter you're cards a lot to cach you're opponent off Gard.
