If you wouldn't drink milk that was two months past its expiration date, why would you consider taking medication that was outdated? Over time, the chemical makeup and potency of medications changes.

Taking outdated medications may also mean you are taking a pill that is not going to help you, says Mary Ross, UI Hospitals and Clinics pharmacy supervisor. Many medications become ineffective past their expiration date.

Date is for best to be used by... The medicine after the date they explain begins to loose it's strength and potency. It's not known to be dangerous if you take it, chances are it just won't work quite as well as before. Recommend not to use and get rid of it. Not worth the chance....

Either nothing would happen or something terrible could happen. The best thing to do would be to throw it away, along with any other medications you no longer use or that are expired.
