I went to my 36 wk apt today and my doctorsaid that the cramping and back pain that I have been having is early labor, but they have done nothing to my cervix! i know that this could go on for the rest of the month and I just need to realx and I know that it is good for my son to stay in there for a little longer, but has anyone else experienced this and how long did you go through it??

I had two pre-term babies, and one full term after 6 months of bedrest. Listen you need to just relax and do as little as possible for atleast the next 2 weeks. It's gonna get real boring, try puzzle books and reading. I'm sure you doc already said no sex, that's good advice. listen to it.
you're right it is better for your boy to stay put as long as possible.
oh yeah to answer your question of how long?
with my first---just 6 days of labor they couldn't hold me off any longer..he was 8 wks early...sleep apnea, theophyline and a hospital stay of almost 2 months.
my second was 4 wks. early after 4 months of bedrest and constant contracting. she was healthy thank god....
my third.....full term after 6 months of bedrest and constant contracting.
good luck and live lightly....

I had the same problem with both my pregnancies, however I was dilated and effaced for like a month to a month and a half with both my kids so good luck and remember to relax it will help the process along. You could also talk to your doctor about "Stripping your membranes" in a few weeks, this sent me into active labor within a few hours of it being done.

Yes but I started bleeding at 34 weeks and went to the hospital. (It ended up being that part of my placenta tore away when my baby dropped-he had a short cord and it pulled on the placenta-Very Scary) Then I was on bedrest but false labor really started at 38 weeks and was really bad but then I had my baby 3 days later(1 day away from being 39 weeks) yes it is really good if he can stay in there a little bit longer.

I have had back pain through my whole pregnancy and I recently lost my plug. I am 38 weeks and no contractions yet but extreme back and hip pains. It is normal to have pains in your hips and back the doctor checked me today to see if my baby head was pushing on my back. but it is not it is down where it is suppose to be and all is well. just make sure to count your baby's movements six in two hours if you don't feel it than you must go in. good luck to you
