Sometimes you just have to work though it with her. A year long relationship is gonna take some time to get over.
Just take her out, buy her dinner. Go to movies.. go dancing.. do fun stuff with her.. and talk to her.. she needs you now.
Catch you on the flip side!

Dear Sweet Miss Sunshine,
You of all people should know it's not always going to be sunny skies and happy times. The trick to get through the bad times is to move through them rather than stay stuck in them. That's why it's important to stay active and be in touch with family & freinds who can be there to offer support, lend a helping hand or just offer some kind words of reassurance. THE most important thing to remember is that the bad times can teach us important life lessons. No one can stay in a happy mood 4-ever unless they're popping some pretty strong pills. Life is full of ups & downs . I think the best you can do to help your friend is to let her cry her tears and work through the pain. Continue to ask her to join you if you're going to the movies or what ever other activites you've enjoyed doing in the past.

Do you want to change her mood because you're uncomfortable with it? She's got to go through the negative feelings in order to get over them, get it out of her system so to speak. I'd say be supportive, make sure the have empathy (not sympathy), be there for her. Showing her you have understanding and compassion for her will help her through this but trying to make her happy won't help. You have to be empathetic before you can help her with feeling happy. You can take her out and try to do fun things with her to show her your there for her, just make sure you don't invalidate her feelings.

I suggest that when you are with her to stay off the topic of the other person. Enjoy each other's company and tell her that the easiest way to forget about something like that is to quit pondering over it. It is difficult, but distract her with just you guys having a good time.

Be a very good friend to her and try to make her laugh and that help to cheer her up. Maybe explain to her about rumors and that they not good for her and friend.

Plan a relaxing and fun weekend together, rumors are rumors and should not be taken seriously.
