Having energy.

Something that has a store of energy, or that can convert energy from one form to another, can do work with the energy.

A person that is alive has energy and can do work.

A car that has gasoline and an engine for converting it into thermal and kinetic energy can do work.

Energy! What is stored energy called? Chemical energy! Light, motion, heat, etc. are all forms of energy! Work= f x d (force times distance). A thermometer DOES NOT measure heat, but measures the effect of heat (temperature). Heat is measured in calories. Energy is never lost, but can be converted.
