That and Fox News Alerts used to be like candy for me but then they both became to ubiquitous. I've seen both for the same news over and over again throughout the day. Once it has happened and you've called it "breaking news" then just report it like normal. Something that happened 5 hours ago doesn't need an alert or a special graphic.

Then of course some of the breaking news and alerts are dumb. Some are good like certain car chases, wildfires, industrial fires, earthquakes, high office resignations, assassinations, mass murders, school shootings, deaths of legends (like Ed Bradley) etc. but then there are a lot of stupid things like the standoff the other day where the guy was talking to police on a cell phone in his truck. Whoop-dee-doo, there's no action, move on Captain Slow News Day.
