If it is a fairly recent model with a Turbo engine, it is meant to do that so that it gives time to the oil in the turbine to settle down. Otherwise the turbo would get starved of oil due to the centrifugal forces (the turbine runs at about 10,000revs) and when you turn it on the next time, it burns itself out. I'm sure you know that you should NEVER rev the engine of a turbo car just before you turn it off. You'll burn it.

Engine dieseling after ignition shut off: Check for leaking injectors, including the cold start injector, if so equipped. A defective canister purge system. Also a rupture fuel regulator diaphragm that is allowing fuel to be sucked in through the vacuum line.

In my experience it could be bad gas. There are several different ways this could go, depends on the car, how old is the car, mileage, etc. But alot of times its just bad gas. try filling up somewhere other than where you purchased the last tank and see if it makes a difference, also check the owners book to determin what grade of gas to use, ie 87, 89, 93.Hope this helps.

Dieseling or engine run-on is a condition which can occur in sparkplug internal combustion engines whereby the engine keeps running for a short period after being turned off, due to fuel igniting without spark. Dieseling is so-named because this is essentially how diesel engines operate (without spark

It means you need a dekoke (I mean your engine does, not you). It means that the engine combustion chambers are so dirty with deposits that these remain incadescent for while after the engine is turned off and so the engine will continue to run for awhile, those incadescent deposits acting as spark plugs. Have the engine dismantled and decoked -- ie cleaned. It will sort the problme out.

You need to be more firm with him. He thinks he is boss dog. You let him get away with his bad behavior, and it has gotten worse. I recommend obedience training. They will teach you how to train the dog so he learns you are the boss and you don't get hurt. EDIT Consider seeing a vet. Could be a brain tumor or an infection that changes his personality.

It could be what is refered to as "dieseling".
Your timing could be off... the cam shaft might need aligning...something to this effect...

My K-car constantly did this.( longer than 30 seconds) I couldnt afford to get it fixed, and really didnt feel that it was worth getting it fixed. (pos car) So all I did was stop the engine in 2nd gear and then put it into park.
