I have D-link 500T 1 port router, and it keeps changing my Ip every 3 or 4 hours, is that normal ? and am not talking abt my DHCP IP i am talking abt my external IP...plz some1 heeelp

Some ISP's don't like their customers using peer-2-peer file transfer software. If they detect it, they break your connection. That could be what's happening here.

You may have a problem with either your router or your ISP. It seems that your IP address lease time is expiring FAR more quickly than normal. The lease time is usually in days, not hours.

Contact your ISP and see what their IP lease times are, and ask if they can tell anything from there end as to what might be causing this.

The other possibility is that your router is releasing and renewing the IP every few hours, thereby getting a new IP. I think that this is the more likely of the two, but there's no way to tell without being there and checking your configurations.

Okay sounds like you have DSL. Edit your Router to handle the PPOE by doing this will keep your connection alive (you will need your Username and Pass)
