oh and another question now that the democrats own the senate do you think in 08 the president is going to be democrat

I think the majority of the U.S. at the moment is republican. For '08 I can't see a democrat winning. If another disliked republican administration takes over than by '12 no doubt dems will hold the white house. Republicans will probably hold house + senate in '08 as well.

I'd say it's almost equally balanced as far as democrat/republic ratio goes.

I have to agree though that our 08 president will likely be democratic. The country currently distrusts republicans because of the war in Iraq, and the idea of having the first woman president (Hillary Clinton), especially when she's married to one of the better presidents in recent history, is more appealing than whatever Congressman the republicans find.

If the republicans got Rudi Gulianni, then they might win, since he was a hero to New York during 9/11.

Look at the make up of senate and house. Two seat majority senate ,and what nine in the house, that is a long way from owning anything all that gets them is committee chairs and the choice of what comes up(that is quite a lot) but they in no way can move anything the Republicans choose to stop. You do remember all of the filibusters that the Democrats pulled well now the Republicans can do the same.

Two years in politics is a very long time and either party can gain or loose grace.

I thinks it's really mixed. The democrats have some majority in the house- maybe the senate, but the republicans had majority not too long ago. As for the president, many vote based on who it is. Just like some democrats didn't like the Clintons and some republicans don't like the Bushes (at least not George W.)

What gets me is the the arrogance of your question - it could only be from an American. Did you know that actually there are other countries on this rock apart from the good old USA; this site goes all over the world and there are OTHER countries with republic and democrat type parties, but you assume that it can only be one country you're talking about. Well I know which country that is - the one that only sees in shades of black and white and not the grey that is real life - oh yes - to answer your question -

does it really matter - it's not parties that run America anyway - it's big business - how do I know ? Well it was American big business that deemed that the twin towers and all the poor sods in them were 'expendable' or whats that other grotesque euphemism used thsese days 'collateral damage' isn't it ?

I feel that voters are smarter and more intellegent than some pundits like to think. During the early 20th century voters saw how monopolies and oligarchies were taking advantage of people and voted in Teddy Roosevelt who passed the first anti-trust laws. Later government became to big and there were too many people who were dependent on the state. Voters changed the government that was more business friendly. Later people saw crime was spinning out of control and they voted in governments who would crack down on crime. When excesses occur in society, society is smart enough to realize when excesses occur and those excesses need to be fixed.

niether, because more then half the country wont vote.
but if everybody voted i don't think conservatives would win any elections no exceptions.
think about how many people in this country smoke pot for example. both democrats and republicans despite the propaganda your fed are against weed.
if everybody in the country voted we would be a liberal country, not democratic or republican.

calling Nacy Poulsie inc. left or liberal is a joke.

we are currently a moderate country, stuck in the middle, if you look at votes.

I think most of the US is republican because it seems most think religious issues is more important and therefore are against abortion and gay marriage. But of course there's people who see the economy and education being more important. But when it comes to voting, I think its split.

I hope the next president is democrat though. We need to stop the war.
