Brake switch

It's the brake light switch, attached to the brake pedal inside your car.

It's NOT the light bulbs, as the turn signal and brake light are the same filament. So if you're getting a turn signal to work, then the brake light would also work. So it has to be the brake light SWITCH near the brake pedal. Easy fix, do it yourself. Go to auto parts store and buy a new one. Maybe $10.

i own a repair shop, and you need a brake light switch on it, this is what makes the brake lights work, its not un common for one to go out once in a while especially on that old of a vehicle, and there easy to put on too, especially on the Dakota,s,it mounts sort of behind the brake pedal ,but is mounted in a bracket, you,ll see it once you look down there for it,good luck,i hope this help,s.

Use the bulbs that got here initially with the vehicle. If checking the change for continuity exams out (this suggests which you're taking it out and verify it with a self-powered try easy or ohmmeter) and if there is not any ability to the brake component of the sockets, take this motor vehicle to a mechanic. you have something from a nasty floor or something to do with the BCM (physique administration module). that is previous the scope of the abode mechanic to repair, and you gets incredibly costly in case you screw it up.
