I am having a problem booting up. I can still boot up, but I have to press F1. It says

IDE secondary slave.....none

CMOS checksum error-defaults loaded

change the cmos battery, sounds like it's using defaults because it can't remember the settings. i may be wrong

Hello...is your computer fairly old (more than say, 2-3 years?)

That error message usually means the saved settings in the BIOS were erased...so my guess is the backup battery is dead and it can't retain the settings anymore and you get that message everytime.

You can try going into the BIOS and just saving the settings when you exit and it may not say that anymore. Or you can try changing that backup battery out.

Change the cmos battery located on your motherboard, then reset your bios for the settings you want.
