Where do I find what percentage of sentenced time an inmate has to serve in Virginia?

My boyfriend has been sentenced to 5 1/2 years in prison for malicious wounding in 2004. I am trying to find out what percentage of that time that he has to serve before he is eligible to get out. I am not sure where I can find what the law is in Virginia. Any help would be greatly appreciated, some one told me they think that it is 85% but I would like to find something in writing so that I will know when he may be able to get out!! THANKS!!!!

My husband did time in Va., and for a violent crime it is 85%. just contact the first criminal attorney in the book. He can answer for you in writing.
