When I was a kid nobody hugged. You didn't see it on TV. People just didn't do that. I had one aunt who hugged people alot, I remember because it was so strange.
Now everywhere you look, everybody is a hugger. You can't watch a TV show and the people are hugging. Two guys who barely like each other will hug. Half the people in my family are now up to speed with my aunt.
What happened? Anybody else notice this?
Unless you are a hot chick, please keep your distance!

I like hugging, if it's a close friend, or family, or a lover, and also if someone's upset and needs comfort. But other than those situations, I think it's unnecessary and a bit false - like those Hollywood types who kiss each other on the cheek when they barely know each other.
A hug should mean something - it should mean I like you, or I care about you. If it means nothing, it's ridiculous - we should all have our personal space!

They always say happiness is a hug .

Why is this in the gay/lesbian category? Do you think it is gay to hug? Anyway, if you ask me, I don't think it is gay but I find it extremely pretentious as there aren't a lot of people out there that I care for them enough to hug them. I believe in expressing one's feeling in a quiet and discreet way.

When you were a kid, "nobody hugged" WHERE YOU LIVED.
Now that you're out in the big world, you've discovered that it's different. Keep watching, it gets better!

Yes, a strange phenomenon I am not happy with. It is like this ghastly Johnny Foriegner trick of trying to kiss everybody you meet. I mean, do they think we all live in bloody Paris or something. I much prefer a polite handshake.

I think there is a trend, but I don't see anything wrong with it. It's about time we became more open with our feelings, and a hug shows someone you care.

Yes, I know what you mean. There's a lot of teenagers around here who you see shaking hands when they meet, that's nonsense too.
