Has anyone here given birth without pain medication, and if so, what "method" did you use and would you do it again (birth without meds)?

I have 4 children. The first two were hospital births and the second two were home births. Completely natural. I would definetly continure to have natural births. But i think 4 is my limit :-) I saw a midwife throughout the pregnancies and she and her assistants were present at teh births. No complications awesome experience. I took bradley classes which helped alot. They teach you all about what to expect and how to relax. I totally recommend it. But make an informed decision. Do alot of research first. Have a wonderful birth experience

I have given birth to all 3 of my sons without medication. Im pregnant again with my first daughter and I will do it again. I didnt use any method. Just went into labor and gave birth. I dont like the idea of an epidural and not being able to use my legs or feel anything or a needle going into my back. I prefer natural. Its not that bad. The pain is bad, but its over with quickly and then you have your new baby and forget about all that pain.

I gave birth to both my children without pain meds. The old fashion way. Of course it is painful, but worth it at the end. Think about all those women, probably including our mom's that did it natural. I will have my third in May and it will be without meds. The meds only work for a while and if you get an epidural block, ouch... I do not want any needles in my back...

I did with my second baby, but it wasn't by choice. The baby was 17 days early, my entire labor lasted about 5 or 6 hours, the first 5 of which the contractions weren't that bad (which is why I didn't think I was in labor). I got IN the room at 9:20pm and was about 4cm. At 9:50pm my son was born in 2 pushes. No time for pain medication so I had to do it all by myself. No method used here, just a lot of screaming :). I was up walking around and went to pee right after he was born and was in no pain at all. But if I had the choice I would NEVER do it again, although I can't say it was that bad because it WAS so short...

I had every reason to believe that I would go natural with my son.... although after 32 hours of labor i went with the meds. My suggestion is to try to forgo the meds, but do not be afraid to change your mind.

I did with my last child 8 years ago. By the time I got to the hospital I didn't even get all my clothes off and the baby was coming. Would I do it again? NOOO!! That was ALOT of pain!

First child natural...NEVER AGIAN! she was 7lbs 2 1/2 ozs. Epidural with my second, he was 9lbs 8ozs....if my clock ever goes off again, its an epidural all the way. Not that I have anything against hpynobirthing, its sounds wonderful, but I had trouble focusing through my whole pregnancy, and was afraid that it wouldn't work for me.

when i finally decide to take the plunge into parenthood i plan on trying natural childbirth. i want to go to hypnosis sessions to be able to control my pain. and also i would like to deliver in water. i hate the idea of being strapped to a bed and not being able to be in a natural position.
