Junior year is the best time to start looking at colleges to see which ones fit you best ; taking into consideration total price, distance, majors offered, school ranking, loans, environment, crime rate and lots more. It is the best time to contact colleges and request info and to ask questions but beginning of senior year, september to be exact, is the time to apply. Make sure that all financial aid info is filled out and turned in. Keep an eye on deadlines for for financial aid as well as scholarship deadlines and requirements. By the end of your junior year you have secured a good GPA that might or might not be changing (might only change a little) so beginning of senior year is the best time. Junior year is also a good time to visit colleges though you could start as early as freshman year.

RE:
How early should you start applying to college? Is junior year too early or just right?
I am just trying to decide if being a junior in high school is too early to start applying to college or if I should wait until my senior year!

It's too early to actually submit your application, but it is never to early to decide where you want to apply. Different schools have different applications and requirements. Some require letters of recommendation so start building those relationships with your teachers. Others require personal statements based on essay prompts they provide. Look up what your chosen colleges require and start working on those types of materials. Some academic programs require special submissions: an art school will expect some kind of demonstration of your work. Essentially, just try to figure out which schools you want to apply to and whether or not early decision is something you want to do.

Give yourself some time to think about the college you really want. Most colleges have limited programs and you may get locked in a program you don't want.I didn't do my HS education here so i can't give you more information on that ,but i believe you have to get your grade or GPA on your graduation to apply. You don't apply to a school with a verbal information about your grades. If you are admitted before graduating HS,will you be able to leave?Applying earlier may block someone's chance and you might not be admitted whilst in HS.Have you thought about your major and finances to college?Don't rush into making mistakes. You'll have a lot of time to think about that later but now, just focus on making good grades to facilitate an easy admission to college.Good luck

most students in their jryr start to get acquainted with the college process - what type of colleges they should apply to, how they can obtain applications, what type of majors they should consider, dorming, tuition etc... then early in your senioryr, u should start applying to the colleges u checked out & visited beforehand in your jryr, unless u feel u have enough credits & just want to head to college as early as to miss your senioryr in hs. jryr should really be a year u start preparing.

Collages ask for your ACT or SAT scores
start as soon as you get your scores back
if you get anything lower than a 20 in your SAT then re-take them
Alot of collages ask for money to process your application, in those cases ask your counceler for a form to waive your fee if you are a low income

Grade school for the really prestigious colleges, good luck. And if you are not the brightest light in the harbor- start saving your money when you apply for the colleges, don't depend on a scholarship nor a grant.
