Bleach and water, don't overdo the bleach though. Magic erasers are actually magic. Seriously. Citrus cleaners clean some pretty crazy things... Uh, the rough side of a sponge? Lime away! Works wonders. Something gritty maybe, fast orange and ajax? I know nail polish remover works good too for markers. You could try paint thinner or gas but that might be pushing it. And if it's on a crapet and you can't find anything that works you could extremely carefully make a bleach and water mixture, light on the bleach, and carefully sit there with a q-tip and just bleach it out until it blends but that would totally depend on the colour of your carpet. You could do a test spot behind a door in a closet or something though. Woah I need a life.

I'm not sure about carpets, but Sharpie usually rubs off plastics with rubbing alcohol and a textured cloth (such as gauze).

Take a Dry erade marker and pass over it till you begin to peer the colour of the sharpie fading. Then you will have to be capable to wipe away the marker. I have used this to save lots of my coffe tables and finish tables from my niece and nephews Wrath.

I know that if you have sharpie on a dry erase board, then just color it over with a dry erase marker then wipe off. Works great.
