SILVERADO or a GMC Sierra (same truck) The Avalanche is a novelty truck. Sure its got a 350 or bigger, can pull your boat or trailer, and LOOKS cool, but the constant switching from a 6 seater to a full bed pickup will loosen things up. Plus you have the option of a Full bed pickup AND a 6 passenger (if you need that much room) in the Silverado and Sierra. Also, just one more LITTLE, SMALL, MINUTE detail, Silverado will probably be a few THOUSAND less than the AV, brand new!

Good Luck in your truck shopping.

i have a 2004 avalanche. the bed is about 5 foot long and if you are going to do lots of hauling of long objects, you would have to fold the rear seats down and drop the midgate. however if you are not looking for lots of bed space, the avalanche is a more comfortable ride than the silverado. the suspension is more like a suburban on the avalanche and the truck is a unibody design so there is no break between the bed and the cab. it is and individual preference. the avalanche will run at least 10000 more than a silverado, but i like personally like the avalanche better.

If you are looking for room in the bed, the silverado is the way to go. The avalanche has a smaller bed, but is supposed to be waterproof. If you want more interior room, the avalanche is better. If you are only towing, I'd go with the Avalanche.

I personally like both, but i haul ATV and do lots of home improvements so the silverado is better for me.They are releasing the new body style for the silverado in January so you may want to wait,it willl have the same nose as the new Avalanche.

Silverado, I think the Avalanche's are awful looking.

In my humble opinion the Avalanche if for "wannabee's" and buy the vehicle as a fashion statement. IMHO, also not a very practical truck. If you want my advice...Silverado extended cab or crew cab is the better choice.

The new Silverado is already out at some dealers. Just saw 2 last week here in FL
I like the Av w/o the extra plastic on the sides.

It totally depends on what you wan to use it for.
I like the Avalanche allot, however for serious hauling, the silverado might be better.

SILVERADO OR SIERRA!!!

Why would you want a plasticized truck that looks like it was cheaply made by Lego or Tupperware or Rubbermaid?

What gimmicky crap. All that plastic will deteriorate in the hot sun and look like crap, and will trap salt and other contaminants that will rust the metal underneath. It'll be funny in about 10 years to watch all that plastic flapping in the breeze as the panels have rotted out under them.

They should call it the "Plastilanche." Why couldn't they just put the "mid-gate" on a regular truck without all that childish embellishment?
