Her pregnancy was fine until the 8th month, she was put on strict bedrest and she wasn't exactly listening...she was induced and was stated that the baby "came too fast". The baby had to be put on a venalator and she had to be rushed to the ER to get the placenta removed for some reason or another...it wasn't decending I think. I was just curious...I was thinking of starting for a baby...but now I am scared to death...can someone help me out?? Thanks!

Sorry! I think she was rushed to surgery...and she did deliver in a hospital. I thought that the placenta was delivered shortly after the baby, but there was something wrong with hers...I didn't get the details on that. But thank you for the answers thus far!!

Yea, maybe something was wrong.. and her placenta didn't come out after birth... so they had to get that out of her- it's not good for the mom if it doesn't come out.

Don't be scared, you will be just fine... I would think that would be rare to happen, and if she wasn't following dr.s orders, then complications can occur... so make sure you do everything the dr. tells you that you can and can't. Don't stress either :) You will be just fine!

Sometimes after a woman delivers a baby the uterus loses it's firmness and becomes "boggy". It stops contracting and the placenta can't be delivered. Usually they just give a dose of pitocin to start the contractions again and then the placenta can be delivered. It's not a common thing really and you shouldn't be concerned.

No that isn't the norm. I have had five kids and my placenta came out just fine every time. I assume you mean she was rushed to surgery and not the ER??

Its not something that usually happens...... but very rarely can. Sounds like she had placenta previa... or if you mean, that it did not come out after birth, yes that rarely can happen as well. If it does not come out within 30 minutes of delivery, the woman can start hemorrhaging.

Yes it is abnormal but keep in mind this is a very rare occurrence so don't be nervous about starting your own family each pregnancy is different with each and every one of us, even with multiple pregnancies with the same person. Good Luck!

I really don't think that's common. Don't be scared, just take it easy and have faith that everything will go good when you do get pregnant. Follow the doctors directions and stay healthy. Good luck!
