Humans are example because we don't get our food from the sun unlike plants which is called photosynthesis we have to buy or make our own food.

your household pet is a good example. just try and get them to eat something they do not like [unless you half-starve them]. they 'will' let you know what they like and what they don't, and isn't that what being a consumer is, more or less.
