For some reason I like MacBird! by Barbara Garson. It is a totally libelous spoof on Macbeth, a twisted yet strangely realistic look at the politics of the 1960s. Don't misunderstand me: I don't for a moment credit the idea that the Kennedys planned to take over the US by 1984, or that Johnson assassinated JFK to prevent this, but somehow this play has had a fascination for me over the years. The falsehoods in MacBird! are just as outrageous as the real falsehoods of the era---if that makes any sense.
