Stone definitely! and get an Albanian Wall Building Gang to do the job for you - they're brilliant, fantastic workers, very competitive on price and they are not all a bunch of crooks and thieves - believe me!

You can get 600mm x600mm concrete slabs for as little as £2.50 each or as much as £12each so it all depends on what slabs you were thinking of in the first place , but saying that natural stone is normally dearer.
Have you thought about using Indian slate, If you shop around for it you can get it for about £20 a square mt and it looks great.
Hope this helps!

If your buying, I'm not exactly sure, but Natural stone can be found just about anywhere if you look for it. If you are buying it the size will make the difference, larger cuts of stone cost more than smaller ones whearas concrete is the same per square foot. If you live near Limestone industry's you should be able to get it free or near free, depending on if you want it in designs other than square or rectangular. Limestone is "natural" and all you have to do is cut it to fit. Concrete is made and therefore should cost more. I have worked with limestone for 12 years and have never paid for any limestone I've used. I'm currently adding onto my porch and all I've paid for is the mortar.

The man made slabs won't last as long. Aren't as durable. But, unless you are doing something that you want to enjoy for 20 years man-made is great. I have used it and liked it. However, we are now shopping for our "last home." The one from now till retirement years and there I will want to use natural stone.

Concrete is very affordable, can use any color, and durable. Natural stone will raise the value on your home, it is easy to clean, but be careful because if you set something too hot it can break the natural stone. I think you went with the better choice of natural stone!

stone slabs, sandstone etc., would be much more costly.

Try on ebay search under stone and then narrow it down to home and garden.

You could be pay 20 per sq metre though or more.
