I have used Avast for the past nine years. An I have never recieved this (SMTP protocol error 1050). Means unable to scan your incoming mail).

My platform is Windows XP Prof., but I have used every platform that Windows makes without any problems with Avast.

My suggestion to you is that you go to add/remove and remove Avast and just install the registratation key they gave you back in.

Possible that the program did not install correct. Or you have a problem with your mail services that you don't say if it is Yahoo mail or Hotmail.

Sorry, did no longer see your final addition: do no longer be conscious of roughly Avast, yet i assumed spybot grew to become into for detecting unwelcome travelers, Malware bytes further, and a firewall is meant to discover and forestall your gadget from being contaminated by way of an incoming virus....... precisely what looks to have befell. You did no longer point out secure practices necessities or Defender(?)

Basically Avast is trying and failing to scan your email for virii. You could try uninstalling avast and downloading it again and seeing if that cures it, but maybe its your email program?
