Opposite us is a high wall, a little wooded area, between, a fairly busy road. He, a boy, along with 5-6 others were 'messing' about.
I saw one, hurl a rock, then a five foot branch into the passing traffic below him.
I saw all this and managed to grab him and haul him to my house.
Where my mrs stood on the phone to the police. We ended up
taking him home and explaining to his mother what had goe on.
The police turned up later to get down officially what had happened.
He assured me I would be ok, as to 'other repurcussions', saying, "Not on my bloody patch. And he can look forward to a visit from an unimpressed police officer!"
The boy was 11 years old.
What would you have done?

I didn't take him inside, we, all three of us including my mrs. Stood outside waiting for the police to turn up. After a second phonecall were we asked to take him home by the police.

I would like to think I would do as you did. Certainly, I intervene when I see people putting others at risk. I am really glad the police agreed with you, rather than trying to charge you with assaulting a minor. It took some bravery to save that young man from himself - which is what I hope is the long-term result. And had I been that mother, I would have been grateful to you for having acted as you did, even if I was boiling mad at the time.

i would of done more or less what you have done except for the dragging the child into your house (you could be accused for assault or kidnapping i don't know rules involving kids are so strict these days) but i would have escorted the child home and then in formed the police.

I probaly would have called the police. But by the time they came someone could have got hurt or the kids could have split. I think you did the right thing.

Well done, you. I wouldn't have had the nerve in view of the litigiousness that people seem to demonstrate nowadays. The best I could have done was stay claer and phone the bill.
