I'm planning on moving to New York pretty soon and am thinking about transferring to Columbia University. I've done some research about it but i just wanted to get some opinions from people who have gone there or who know more about it. (campus nice?..how are the classes???) *

It's really hard to get into. It's in downtown NYC, so the neighborhood isn't too safe. But there's always lots to do around campus--Broadway shows, parties, sporting events.

The school is excellent, the neighborhood is as bad as any i've been to.
I've been in the NY area all my life and not much scares me, but I would not walk in that area alone at night.
I know they have top names teaching classes there and a degree from Columbia is as good as it gets, just be careful and stay on campus. It's part of the city, so the campus is part of NYC and crazy things happen because the neighborhood is very poor.
